Disney’s large pawed Wreck-It Ralph character is busting out of his arcade cabinet and is getting the Virtual Reality treatment with his own animated virtual arcade attraction called Ralph Breaks VR. Richard Bilbao from the Orlando Business Journal reports that the new location-based attraction will take place at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, California and at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida.
Partners Behind the Magic
According to Disney Parks Blog, the creative visionaries behind Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Ghostbusters Dimension will be working on Ralph Breaks VR. ILMxLAB (Lucasfilm) and The Void, are co-joining The Walt Disney Company to create vibrant experiences that tap into our senses (temperature, smells, a gust of wind) in 4D.
“Our filmmakers and the terrific people at ILMxLAB have collaborated to bring an incredible hyper-real experience, for all ages, to The VOID,” said Oscar-winning “Ralph Breaks the Internet” producer, Clark Spencer.
Wearing the best headsets, computers, and haptics technology available, or The Void’s signature magical touch, will add to its hyper-realness. Haptic wearables that simulate touch and impact also make visitors turn into embodied characters, dialing up the immersion and entertainment significantly.
Virtual Transformation of Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope
Wreck-It Ralph’s “multi-sensory Disney adventure” and The Void’s virtual reality arcade will take visitors on a fully immersive, Virtual Reality expedition to “the worlds of the internet and online gaming with Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope”.
The film’s hilariously sarcastic duo, voiced by John C. Reilly as Ralph and Sarah Silverman as Vanellope von Schweetz, will get a virtual makeover that is sure to delight fans. We’re looking forward to them tickling our funny bone as we go on an adventure to the wonderful but zany internet!
From the looks of the Wreck-It Ralph 2 Official Trailer, the film, set for a Thanksgiving release, will have various cameos from Disney princesses to Star Wars Stormtroopers. However, it is yet to be confirmed if visitors will also get to meet those characters in Ralph Breaks VR. Yet, with descriptions like “hyper-real” and “multi-sensory”, we’re sure it’ll be unforgettable with or without special cameos.
Future Endeavors
Vicki Dobbs Beck, ILMxLAB Executive in Charge shared what VR fans can expect in the future, announcing that, “At ILMxLAB, we are truly excited for fans to ‘Step Inside Our Stories’ by extending our award-winning creative collaboration with The VOID across The Walt Disney Company.”
Additionally, Dobbs Beck gave Disney fans a preview of other projects, “Together, we will soon invite guests into other beloved Disney franchises where they can explore rich worlds, engage with compelling characters, embark upon heart-pounding adventures, and indulge the senses”. Furthermore stating, “experiencing the magic as never before.”
Ralph Breaks VR Release
The film “Ralph Breaks the Internet” is smashing into theaters on November 21st. Ralph Breaks VR is going to be a hit with both kids and big kids (adults) of all ages.
